Ford is planning to build three new models in Spain over the next six years.
Ford Motor Company and the Spanish car workers union UGT have confirmed intentions to introduce up to three new small and medium segment models into the plant and Ford will be investing €425 million at Almussafes.


Nissan will expand the production of its popular QASHQAI/Dualis mid-size crossover, adding new capacity at the Kyushu plant in Japan to meet high local demand and freeing up more capacity at its Sunderland plant in the UK for European sales. 

Production of the Dualis, Japan market name, is expected to begin in early 2008 with production to reach 24,000 units per year.


Three out of four households now have a car, according to the latest DfT figures.

More women are now driving than ever, but we are all making fewer road journeys although we tend to go further when we do. Bus travel has gone down in the UK but internal flights have risen.


A London black cab has been loaned to The Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, as part of an interactive exhibition.

LTI Vehicles has loaned a TX4 to the museum, which houses the largest collection of British veteran, vintage and classic cars in the world, as part of a series of exhibits on the history of the British car industry.


BMW will move production of the Z4 car from its Spartanburg, South Carolina USA plant to Regensburg, Germany.

The move will take place in 2009 or 2010, to concentrate development and production expertise of particular vehicle types in BMW’s plants.

European sales of Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles have topped the 100,000 mark.

Since hybrids were first launched in Europe in 2000, a total of 101,235 vehicles have been sold as of 31 July 2007 and the Toyota Prius was top with over 73,000 vehicles sold.

 

Kia has cut the roadside assistance service from three to one year for new models.

It says improved build quality and reliability make the extra two years unnecessary and it can trim associated costs to keep down overall prices.

 

VOSA is strengthening its brand by the addition of the MOT three triangles to its logo.
Stephen Tetlow, CEO for VOSA said, "The MOT three triangles is a well recognised brand, which is used across all MOT test stations and increasingly used by other organisations to symbolise reassuring checks on standards. Capitalising on the use of the three triangles will help a wider audience to recognise VOSA and will help reinforce the role it plays in improving road safety."
