Citroën has released more details about the all-new Berlingo Multispace, which will arrive in the summer.

Since the Berlingo Multispace created the budget MPV sector in 1998, it has sold more than all of its rivals combined in a sector that has achieved sales of over 20,000 a year.

In the UK alone, it has sold over 50,000, whilst worldwide, sales of car versions of the Berlingo have exceeded 1,000,000 - even more than van versions of the model.

Building upon its hugely popular predecessor, the Berlingo Multispace's more spacious interior offers a whole host of innovative and useful features to optimise its versatility.

The new model offers a unique overhead interior storage "gallery" that can carry long items like skis; a removable central storage compartment; an opening tailgate window; folding front passenger seat; three separately folding or removable rear seats – the centre one featuring a desktop, cup holder and storage compartment when folded.

With its spacious new interior – the sensation of which is enhanced by the massive glass area – the Multispace will offer saloon car like levels of equipment, as varied as a scented air freshener, automatic headlights, parking assistance, steering wheel mounted stereo controls, speed limiter and even a rechargeable torch in the boot.

The all new model introduces a more stylish look and, with the running gear based on C4 Picasso, it features a longer wheelbase for an ultra smooth ride and optimum comfort. A more powerful 110HP engine, with an ultra clean diesel particulate filter system, will be available.

At 4.38 m, it is a huge 24 cms longer than the original model and with an increase in width it will offer a cavernous loadspace of up to 3000 litres – enough to swallow four washing machines.

Among the versions on offer, the XTR model will boast a rugged 'go anywhere' look with increased ground clearance and presents the new Multispace in full outdoor mode with its two-tone bumper design and grille, black coloured body sections, side rubbing strips and tinted rear windows to give it an adventurous appearance.
