John Dalton and Gwynfor Jones in the Darrian T90

With the annual trip over to the West Cork Rally in Ireland it was to be yet another worthwhile trip for Lampeter duo John Dalton and Gwynfor Jones in the Darrian T90.

They finished 2nd overall (above) on the ever popular event which started with 150 entries on the Saturday morning.
Dalton completed the seventeenth and final stage on the Sunday afternoon after racing over some of Southern Ireland’s most challenging tarmac roads to finish just behind overall winner Donnie O’Sullivan who was driving a Subaru Impreza WRC S11.
Liam McCarthy in a Toyota Corolla WRC finished off the top three after Dalton gained a position over the closing stages to finish as runner up.
Other Welsh crews competing included Phil Collins in the Escort Mk2 who finished 7th overall and 2nd in class.
Washington James from the Teifi Valley finished 10th overall and 4th in class.
Gareth James / Steffan Evans finished 12th overall and 3rd in class in an Escort Mk2 while Hugh Geraint Jones / Dylan Wyn Jones in a Mk2 Escort finished 29th overall and 7th in class.
Retirements included Carmarthen’s Dewi Bowen in a Escort Mk1 when the engine stopped on SS8.
Ian Davies / Llinos Jones in an Escort Mk2 hit a tree on SS2 and Jason Prichard stopped on SS1 in his Citreon C2.
