K J Services Ltd., based in Rhymney, Gwent, South Wales, has taken delivery of the company’s first Volvo heavy haulage FH16-580 6x4 tractor.

It replaces a 520 bhp FH16 which has given over seven years and 500,000 miles of sterling service.

Supplied through the Pontypridd depot of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Wales & West, the STGO Cat 3 FH16-580 features a Globetrotter double-sleeper cab and joins a fleet of seven trucks.

Expected to average 80,000 miles per year, the FH16-580 is on a full Volvo Repair and Maintenance contract for the first two years provided by the same Dealerpoint.

Jeffrey Whitehouse, Transport Manager commented. “Volvo’s best feature has to be their reliability,” adding that the FH16-580 has “more than enough power and torque to cope” with STGO Cat 3 loads.

Operating on a nationwide basis, the FH16 is to be used to transport heavy plant and equipment to aggregate customers, stone quarries and open cast coal mines.
KJ Services also transport Volvo Construction Equipment including the range of dump trucks, wheeled loaders, 360º excavators and bulldozers.
