Anglesey racer Alex Jones maintains the lead of the British Formula Ford Championship's Scholarship class after a successful weekend at Knockhill circuit.
Jones, 19, was in a four-way fight for honours in the Scholarship class for drivers of older chassis in Scotland but rose to the challenge at the wheel of his Myerscough College-prepared Van Diemen to take 12th place overall and the class win in Saturday's race. |

Mechanical problems intervened on Sunday morning to prevent him from finishing race two, but Alex bounced back to class victory and 11th overall in race three. After six rounds Jones leads his nearest class rival by a healthy 42 points. Ulster sensation Wayne Boyd, 17, swept the board at Knockhill, claiming a hat-trick of impressive outright race victories to recapture the overall lead of the Ford-backed series. His Jamun Racing Mygale took victory in the first two races with relative ease, despite some difficult track and weather conditions, and he fought back from third place after a spin on dropped oil to win race three also. The next rounds of the championship are at Croft, North Yorkshire, on 26 and 27 April. |
