Higgins and Gwynne ran out clear winners of Coracle Rally

With glorious sunshine and plenty of dust the Carmarthen Motor Club and Epynt Motor Club jointly ran yesterday’s Bill Gwynne Rallyschool & Motorsport Coracle Stages Rally at the famous Sweet Lamb Rally Complex in Mid Wales.

With an entry of just over 50 cars the event got underway at 10am with seven demanding timed stages ahead for the competing crews. Mike and Dai Roberts from Bronwydd finished the event 20th overall and 3rd in class with probably as much dust inside the car as outside the Peugeot 205. Neal James / Kevin Jones bought back their yellow Mk1 Escort in 38th overall and 6th in class after an entertaining drive.
Dave Brick had been lying in second place in his Subaru Impreza but a roll on the flying finish of a stage saw him retire from the event leaving his car looking more similar to a pickup truck.

The event was won overall by Mark Higgins in the MG S2000 after a drive that saw him and Jessica Gwynne (right) finish 3minutes 24seconds ahead of Martyn England in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 9.
The event saw 42 finishers and the spectators had been treated to some first class driving by Mark Higgins in the MG S2000 on what turned out to be another top class event.
