Family-owned bearings maker Schaeffler Group has gained control of nearly half of all shares in German car parts supplier Continental after 40.26 percent of the stock was tendered during the initial bid period.
In a regulatory filing on Tuesday, Schaeffler, which has a plant near Llanelli, said it now had indirect control of 48.32 percent of Continental as a result, including the roughly 8 percent it already held.

 

Thatcham Research Centre’s world renowned expertise in vehicle security standards is being called upon once again, as Russian insurers look to address unacceptable levels of vehicle theft.
The Russian insurers’ engagement with Thatcham follows a visit in June of this year, when experts from Thatcham’s Vehicle Security Team headed to Russia to evaluate security levels on 11 of Russia’s most stolen and most popular cars.

 

Ford Motor Company today announced the appointment of British-born Stephen Odell as president and chief executive officer of Volvo Car Corporation, replacing Fredrik Arp, who has decided to leave the company.
Effective 1 Oct., Odell, 53, will be responsible for Volvo's global operations out of its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, and lead the company's drive toward sustained profitability through continued restructuring and the accelerated development of high-quality, fuel-efficient and safe vehicles in the premium end of the market.

 

Volvo unveiled the ultimate factory-built police car yesterday at the National Association of Police Fleet Manager’s Conference in Cheltenham.
The Volvo V70 police car was designed and developed in conjunction with the NAPFM, National Police Improvement Agency, Police Federation and users. Volvo will build the fully equipped V70 estate on the standard production line in Torslanda, Sweden, offering a turn key solution to the British Police Force.
