Sebastien Loeb inched closer to a record fifth consecutive World Rally Championship crown with another dominant win in the Rally of Corsica yesterday. The Citroen driver now leads nearest rival Mikko Hirvonen by 14 points with two rounds of the championship left in Japan and Wales. Loeb eased home almost three-and-a-half minutes off Hirvonen in second place. The Finn's team-mates, Francois Duval and © Images Gary Jones
Jari-Matti Latvala, were given team orders by Ford to incur penalties to ensure they fell to third and fourth and did not put undue pressure on the team leader. Petter Solberg and Welsh co-driver Phil Mills finished a strong fifth in their improving Impeza and would have done better but for a puncture. Welsh driver Gareth Jones (below ) and co-driver Clive Jenkins finished a satisfying 16th place and improves his experience and knowledge for WRGB in December. Final positions 1.
