Rain fails to dampen Nick's rally

 | | | In atrocious weather conditions the C P Electrics backed Dafydd Richards Memorial Road Rally ran last Saturday night from its base at Daltons ATV's in Talsarn.
The Lampeter & District Motor Club organised event covered just under 100 miles of lanes and farm tracks on its route in the Lampeter area.
The leading crew at the halfway petrol halt and eventually the overall winners were Nick Evans / Edwin Venville in a Mk 2 Escort with a winning margin of three minutes from the runners up Barry Jones / James Morgan in another Escort.
Third place went to Alan Gaunt / Michael Gilbey in a Peugeot 306 a further six minutes down on Jones.
With a full entry the event had attracted 75 starting crews to the annual event but with weather conditions so bad many crews retired with electrical problems with the deep water etc.
Only 32 crews made the finish back at the Vale of Aeron with only 15 of them finishing without any fails proving the co-drivers had their work cut out with their navigational duties.
Most of those crews that did however make the finish were award winners some may have had fails but never the less they refused to give up and went home with their well deserved silverware.
