The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency want to increase fees for driver licensing and changes.
It has issued a consultation document on the plans which would cover rising costs from 2009/10 and show a number of options over the increases.
Under the proposals put forward as part of an overall package that includes significant cost-cutting, the changes would be a higher fee for the five most common transactions of £20, a rise in all transaction fees of £2 each or a mixture with a common fee and others rising by £5.50. Anyone wishing to comment on the proposed revised fees must do so by 23 January 2009.

Research by Kwik Fit has highlighted that motorists could be putting themselves at risk this winter by not undertaking some basic car maintenance.
The results suggest that millions of motorists are at risk of being a DIPSTIC and need to think about what help could be at hand to get them through the winter months.
Kwik-Fit's research found that 13.5 million (40pc) motorists are unable to check and refill coolant levels, 20pc said the same of oil, and 21pc admitted that they were unable to check their car tyre pressures.
Even more concerning is that one fifth (21pc) of motorists are unable to top up screen wash levels and incredibly, nearly one in 10 (8pc) motorists has no idea how to even open their car's bonnet.
