 | | | | | | To help ease the cost of this year’s celebration,
Cardiff Council in partnership with Admiral, Cardiff Bus and supported
by the Cardiff Safety Partnership will be providing The Admiral Free
New Year’s Eve bus service.
| From 8pm pm until 2.30am approx on Wednesday 31st of
December a special network of services will operate on certain city
routes, see Cardiff bus website for further details http://www.cardiffbus.com The Admiral Free New Year’s Eve bus service is just one
of the ways that Cardiff Council and Admiral are helping to save people
money this New Year’s Eve. There are a number of free events planned including the Admiral Family Fire Show at Cardiff Castle . The
show starts at 7pm on New Year’s Eve (Gates open at 6pm)
Pyrotechnic wizards External Combustion premiere Tiger Tiger, a tale of
a naughty tiger and the animals he encounters on his travels. The
story is beautifully brought to life with light, fire, puppets, music,
video and stunning fireworks. Plus Calennig which features live music
from X Factor runner up Andy Abraham.
Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Nigel Howells
Said, “There is something for everyone this New Year’s Eve in Cardiff,
the Admiral Family Fire Show and Calennig are two great places for
families to see in the New Year. “I
am also delighted that the free New Year’s Eve bus will be back again
this year. It not only encourages people to celebrate their New Year in
the city but also takes the worry out of how they are getting home.”
Admiral’s Managing Director Sue Longthorn, added, “As always,
Cardiff will be busy this New Year’s Eve with the Admiral Family Fire
Show and Calennig celebrations. "We want people to enjoy the evening
without worrying about how they will get home safely afterwards.
Hopefully this reassurance will add to everyone’s enjoyment of the New
Year’s celebrations.”
And it’s not just New Year where you can make the savings. Cardiff
also has Park and ride supported by Admiral. Park and Ride is the
sensible, low cost and hassle free way to enjoy Christmas shopping in
the capital city. Until January 2nd park and ride will be
operating throughout the week,
It’ costs £3 per car which includes parking and bus travel into the
city centre, plus you can go back and forth on the bus as many times as
you like on one day to put shopping in your car.
ADMIRAL’S FLEET: Cllr Nigel Howells, Sue
Longthorn Managing Director of Admiral and Colin Bishop from Cardiff
Bus are joined by 5 face painted Admiral employees promoting the New
Year’s Eve bus services, above.
| Government must do more to stop drink drivers, survey is told | Two thirds of motorists want to see the Government do
even more to stop people drink driving over the festive period,
according to a new poll by Motorpoint.
The online survey of over 1,200 people by the UK car
supermarket giant comes as police forces up and down the country begin
their annual drink driving crackdown. In Warwickshire, for
instance, the police are sending young drivers regular text messages
warning them of the dangers of drinking and driving. Last year, nearly one in six of all deaths on the road involved
drive rs who were over the legal alcohol limit. This currently stands
at 80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood although
there is no failsafe guide as to how to stay under the limit because of
issues such as weight, age, metabolism as well as amount and type of
alcohol. Says Paul Winfield, Operations Director at Motorpoint, “While
drink driving is a year-round problem, it’s the festive period, when
many families are together, that the impact of drink driving really
comes home. "And, while police forces across the country are getting a
lot better at detecting drink- drive rs, the results of poll show that
people still want more to be done - perhaps even adopting a zero
tolerance approach.” | | | | | Car parks are situated at:
