After many successful years associated with John Price Rallying on the Tour of Epynt National Rally that bore the Welsh drivers company name as the event sponsor, Port Talbot Motor Club has taken the decision to establish a new identity for the rally.

The club has received the support of John and Caroline Price over many years, their multi-championship winning Metro 6R4 cars firmly in the hearts of countless onlookers as they blasted over the Epynt stages, and they will be missed by so many.

The club has taken the decision to seek pastures new, and thus most warmly welcomes Mr Huw Williams of Stadium Accident & Repair Centre for his new support & sponsorship of the Tour of Epynt through his ‘Fix Auto Swansea' franchise.

Huw - a successful and experienced rally driver as well as a leading figure in the automotive body repair industry - started his rally career in the 1970's, a Ford Cortina soon replaced by a Ford Escort Twin Cam, later contesting the Ford Mexico National Championship, in which he took tenth overall from the best rally drivers in the country.

Today Huw competes on special stage events in a BMW, and it was - he says - a natural progression to sponsor the PTMC event, as a way of promoting his business and putting something back into the sport that has given him much pleasure.

Already with a well established business and contracts with Lotus, Nissan, Proton and Toyota for body repair, Huw has completed a new association with the American Fix Auto international group, and it is this new partnership that lends its name to what will now be the Fix Auto National Tour of Epynt.

The company operates a simplified claims process, quality commitment and Fix Auto guarantee, along with the impeccable standard of quality that dovetails with the already high standard that Stadium A & R centre provides, being one of only five new independent repairers in the UK to join forces with Fix Auto.

The Port Talbot Motor Club event runs on Sunday February 22nd, and will be the opening round of the 2009 Richard Egger Projects MSA Asphalt Championship & BTRDA Asphalt Rally Series.  The runs over the military roads of the Epynt Ranges above Sennybridge, and will also form part of the 2009 Steve Harkness Competition Tyres Welsh National Tarmacadam Championship, the 2009 Legend Fires Epynt Challenge and it is also a qualifier for the ANWCC Championship and the ASWMC Tarmacadam Championships.

The event will be of a similar format to previous years, based at the Castle Hotel, Llandovery and Starting on the Epynt Ranges , with an entry fee of £325.  The route will have around 75 special stage miles over ten stages, with one central Service Area, finishing at the Castle Hotel, Llandovery where the awards ceremony will take place.

Regulations and entry forms may be downloaded from the motor club website at ptmconline.com and the Entry Secretary for the rally is  Mr Robert Wilson, 35 Heol Eglwys, Ystradgynlais, Swansea SA9 1EY, telephone 01639 849413, or via e-mail at wilsonrobbie@hotmail.co.uk

As with all events over the notoriously demanding and spectacular Epynt roads, spectators are expected to be at the location in droves, Port Talbot MC announcing that the preferred spectator entrance is to approach Epynt from the A40 at Llywel.

There will be a charge of £10 per car for parking, with proceeds benefitting suitable charitable organisations. Other gates onto the range roads will also be manned, and all spectators are requested to respect the facility, and the needs of local residents, both vital to safeguard the future of motorsport on Epynt.

The Service Area will be after SS3, SS6 & SS9 at the ‘Rifle Range' and whilst spectators can go to this area it must be before 8:30 and then after 11:30, due to essential road closure to allow the passage of competitors through central sections of Epynt.

The timings of special stages are SS1 - 09:06  / SS2 & 6 - 09:20 / 12:00  /  SS3 - 10:15  / SS4 - 11:36 SS5 - 11:48  /  SS7 - 13:38 / SS8 - 14:00 /  SS9 - 14:12 / SS10 - 15:17 , the finish & Awards Ceremony at the Castle Hotel Llandovery, where spectators are welcome.
