On
the back of the recently launched smart micro hybrid drive, which offers
fuel savings of up to 24pc in stop-start situations, the eagerly anticipated
smart cdi, goes on sale in March 2009.
The smart cdi uses the latest type of common rail diesel and returns 83.1 miles per gallon on the combined cycle and boasts the lowest CO2 emissions of any production car. Prices will be announced nearer the launch time.
Mazda is introducing
three new ‘Tamura' Special Edition models based on its popular Mazda2 and
Mazda6 hatchback cars.
Both Mazda2 Tamura models come with a 1.3-litre,
86ps petrol engine and a five-speed manual transmission. The Mazda2 1.3 3dr Tamura is priced at
£10,275 and the 5dr at £10,775 and the the Mazda6 2.0 5dr
Tamura with Sports Styling Pack
is £16,695.
Citroën is
offering two new
‘Airdream+' special editions of its cleanest C3 and C4 models, with more
equipment, more economy, more value for money and less impact on the
environment.
The C3 Airdream+ will feature rear parking sensors and smart 15" alloy
wheels, with 1.4HDi 70hp unit. The C4 Airdream+, also gains rear parking sensors and with Citroën's 1.6HDi 16V 92hp unit. The C3 Airdream+ and C4 Airdream+ arrive at £10,995
and £13,89.
Citroën is
introducing a nautical new special edition of the best selling sub 110g/km CO2
emitting car in Europe.
The C1 Splash gets air conditioning, front electric windows and remote control central
locking, as well as two new body colours.
The frugal C1 Splash's outstanding fuel economy
(62.8 mpg on combined cycle), CO2 emissions of 106g/km and group 1 insurance make it the ideal city car to cruise through the
credit crunch. It is based on the new 1.0i 68hp VT model
and is available with 3 or 5 doors from £7,345, including a £800 cashback offer, only £550 more than the VT and stacked with
extras.
First seen as a concept at the Paris Motorshow
as the Prologue Hybrid 4, Peugeot's new 3008 cross-over vehicle will go into
production later this year.
This cross-over is a totally new offering in the UK car market
from the autumn. While the traditional engine is located as usual under
the bonnet and drives the front wheels, the electric motor is located under the
load area floor adjacent to the rear suspension.
There will be a choice of 1.6 or 2.0 engines with manual and automatic transmission.
