Lampeter MC set standard for the year

Making a splash on opening round of this year's series
Lampeter & District MC has set the standard for this year's WAMC Road Rally Championship with the opening round Rali Bro Caron.

A capacity entry of 90 cars started from its base at the Black Lion hotel, Lampeter and faced a challenging 100 mile navigational route which included only two very small white roads.
The leading crew at petrol were Phil Evans / Dilwyn John in a Mk1 Escort after setting some blistering times, but sadly a debatable fail in the second half lost them the overall win although they were without doubt the fastest crew of the night.
The second half of the event saw the crews tackle the infamous Abergwesyn pass, returning over Llyn Brianne dam and down to the ford of Ffarmers before the finish at the Black Lion.
With final results around 7am the overall win went to Dylan Davies / Dale Furniss in a Mk2 Escort with a slender 26 second lead over runners up Huw Evans / Patrick Walsh in another Escort.
TVMC crew Peter Collins / Llinos Jones took third overall in an Astra GTE a further 20 seconds down on Evans.                                                                     ©Gary Jones
