Scores of young people from all over South Wales will be attending the Welsh National Convention of Excellence in Engineering and Technology today.

The annual event at the  Celtic Manor Resort, Newport covers automotive, aerospace, physics, engineering and science and is intended to inspire tomorrow's young scientists.

As part of the event, schools from across South Wales have been working with companies studying and developing projects which are part of an exhibition at the event.

The best projects judged by a panel of experts will get rewards for their schools.

Keynote speaker at the event this year is Dr Lyn Evans, project leader of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Geneva.
