A one-second delay in braking at 70 mph will let a vehicle to travel 102 feet further than expected, often resulting in serious accidents.

Delayed stopping can be the result of "Brake Fade" rather than driver error. Now motorists can reduce the risk of Brake fade claims a new report.

According to the Department for Transport one in three of all car accidents happen as a result of a vehicle failing to stop in time. Most drivers experience brake fade at some time. A driver will notice a split second delay and will not be quite sure if their vehicle is going to stop in time. Brake fade happens when gases from the heat of continual braking is trapped between the brake pad friction and Brake Disc surface.

Brake Specialist, Car Parts Direct claims to have the answer to help reduce brake fade and increase safety is to fit a specially designed performance brake disc.

The Rossini multi-drilled and grooved signature performance have grooves cut at exactly the right depth and angle to help clear moisture, brake dust and the gases to help increase stopping power. Drilling cools the discs quicker and helps improve brake grip and reduce the risk of Brake Fade.

As an added safety feature Rossini brake discs have the manufacturer's logo embedded into the disc face so any sign of uneven wear is quickly detected early. When the logo eventually disappears the driver knows the disc thickness is down to the minimum safety limit.

Mark Cornwall of Car Parts Direct said, "Our customers often describe the ‘Brake Fade effect'. It's a heart stopping and frightening experience that can and does result in many serious accidents. Rossini Brake discs are designed to reduce the risk of accidents by reducing brake fade and increasing stopping performance."

Rossini brake discs are available for virtually every vehicle on the road and are a direct replacement for standard brake discs. Prices start from around £120 a pair depending on the make and model of vehicle.
