S&J are cool fans of hot Vito X

A sizzling new van from Mercedes-Benz is turning up the heat at south Wales firm S&J May Refrigeration.

The Vito Sport-X Dualiner ignited the imagination of Managing Director Steve May, who was captivated by its combination of sporting performance, stunning good looks and luxurious interior.

So fired up was Mr May by the top-of-the-range van, that he promptly ordered one from local dealer Euro Commercials to use in connection with his business, and as his personal transport.

"The Sport-X is a fantastic looking vehicle and very versatile," declares Mr May, whose Newport-based company installs and maintains air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment for customers throughout south Wales and the south-west of England.

The limited-edition Vito Sport-X is powered by a turbo-charged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and pumps out an eye-watering 204hp! That's sufficient to rocket this very special van from 0-60mph in just 8.3 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 122mph.

"It's a great fun to drive and very comfortable on a long journey," says Mr May, who visits customers in a "trouble-shooting" role and takes his turn answering emergency call-outs.

He also uses the new Mercedes to transport his son Zach to cycle race events throughout the country; it will comfortably accommodate the three bikes and additional equipment used by the U14s Velodrome Welsh Open Madison Champion.

As a Dualiner model, Mr May's new van also came with a second row of seats. "This van combines all the best features of a comfortable and stylish family car with the practicality of a serious commercial vehicle," he explains.

"Not only will it transport up to five engineers and all their tools - which means I no longer have to send two vans out on a big job - but it will also tow a big box trailer with all the installation equipment they need."

Mr May is also full of praise for dealer Euro Commercials and its sales executive Gareth Jones, who delivered the Sport-X to his home on a Saturday afternoon, so that he could be one of the first people driving an 09-plated vehicle the following day. "Now, that's what I call service!" he adds.
