Motorists
providing their vehicle registration can now obtain an instant cost of a Car
Part, how long the spare part takes to replace and known fixes for common
vehicle faults on a vehicle.
Mail Order specialist, Car Parts Direct has introduced new technology that
allows a motorists access information that they claim can dramatically reduce
vehicle Service and Repair bills.
Customers ordering Car Parts by phone can now ask a
technical expert the recommended time it should take to replace a
specific vehicle part. This service avoids garages quoting an excessive labour
time to repair a vehicle. If a Garage quotes four- hours to replace
Brakes and Shock Absorbers, Car Parts Direct customers will be able to quote
the real recommended repair time of say, three-hours and ask the Garage to
reduce their labour quote accordingly.
Martin Mosley of Car Parts Direct said, "Some Garages charge a low hourly labour rate
then try to increase the time it takes to carry out the repair. The
information we provide keeps our customers informed of the time the
manufacturers recommend. Our customer then has a choice - supply the parts to
the Garage and pay them to have them fitted. Others can choose to fit the parts
themselves and save on the labour cost."
The information is available on virtually every
major vehicle part fitted on any vehicle registered in the UK on the DVLA
database. More details on the Car Parts Direct link site below.
