North
Wales driver Alex Jones has won valuable backing from Élite Cymru, a programme run by the Sports Council
for Wales.
Élite Cymru
is aimed at providing the most highly promising sports competitors in Wales
with the support they need to achieve their potential and the
award was
made following Alex’s achievements in 2008 - his first year in single-seater
racing during which he achieved 6 race wins, 13 pole positions, and 9 fastest
laps in the Scholarship class of British Formula Ford.
It is an achievement in itself to be accepted onto the
scheme and Alex (left) is naturally thrilled to become a member.
He is also one of the
first motor sport competitors to be
taken on.The support, awarded for three
years, will be reviewed annually against clearly defined performance plans and
targets.
