News in briefResidents in Builth Wells are being asked for their views on plans to improve transport. A study has identified better rail, bus and coach facilities and road options for improving travel and reducing congestion in and around the town with a new one-way system and consultation ends in September. Proposals for an eastern and "near western" bypass of the town are also up for discussion. Deputy First Minister and Minister for Economy and Transport, Ieuan Wyn Jones, has been looking at the the £34 million Angel Way development in Bargoed. The scheme provides a new 2.2km relief road, a new bus station and cycle track routes to form an integrated transport hub around the existing railway station, and reduce congestion in the town by 2012. At least ten vehicles were involved in a crash on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 in south Wales which closed the road in both directions for a time on Saturday. One person was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and seven were sent to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend after the crash close to junction 35 Pencoed. Japan is considering the introduction of noise-making devices for near-silent hybrid cars following safety fears from vision-impaired pedestrians. On Thursday, Judge Robert Gerber asked lawyers to submit papers to him by Friday. He is expected to make a ruling on the carmaker by 10 July.
