 | | | Exactly fifty years after the first classic Mini was
launched and nearly a decade into the life of new MINI, images of the
stunning new MINI Coupe Concept were yesterday released.
Capturing the essence of MINI’s sporting appeal, the global press and
public will see the MINI Coupe Concept in the metal for the first time
when it is unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show from 17 September.
The MINI Coupe Concept is designed to be the most dynamic and agile
MINI ever built. Strictly a two-seater, the low roof line, compact
dimensions, perfect axle load distribution and lightweight construction
are all trademarks of a genuine sports car. Few doubt it will go into production, possibly for the 2011 model year. |
 | The new three-door Polo has been unveiled ahead of its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Drawing
on the same clean, sharp lines adopted by the five-door model the new
Polo three-door features a more aggressive stance, with a pronounced
kink in the window line just above a sharp crease running the length of
the car. The overall effect is a cohesive, clutter-free design that
makes the new Polo appear lower and wider than it really is. | The three-door model shares the same platform and
dimensions as the five-door model and benefits from the same gains in
quality, space, safety and refinement made over the outgoing model. Built
at Volkswagen’s Pamplona production facility in Spain, the three-door
model will start production in right-hand drive form in late October
before the first deliveries start in early 2010. As with the
five-door variant there will be four trim levels – S, SE, Moda and SEL.
Prices for the S are estimated to start at around £9,400 while the top-spec SEL model will cost £14,000. |
Suzuki GB has added a four door saloon to the popular SX4 range. The stylish new model is on sale now, priced at £11,895,
and provides Suzuki with an added opportunity in the ‘B’ and ‘C’ small
and medium size car segments. | | The saloon SX4 comfortably accommodates up to five people and their luggage needs with its 515 litres of boot space, while retaining a sleek and stylish look. For added practicality, the new SX4 Saloon features a through loading system to allow for longer items to be loaded from the boot. The rear seats divide 60:40 to accommodate seating for one or two rear passengers or none, making full use of the extra boot space available. The new model is available with the 107PS 1.6-litre engine which utilises a drive by wire throttle for smooth and responsive progress; the 1.6-litre engine powers the SX4 from nought to 62 mph in 10.7 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 112 mph (where permitted). In combined cycle driving, it has a combined fuel consumption of 41.5 mpg with CO2 emissions of 165g/km. |
