 | The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Executive SE special
edition brings added value for the customer with an exterior styling
pack and interior upgrades.
Available from November 2009 and powered by the manual C180 KOMPRESSOR
BlueEFFICIENCY engine, it is offered in both the Saloon and Estate
bodystyle.
The special edition follows on from the success of the E-Class
Executive SE and is based on the SE model line. The C-Class Executive
SE will feature the Sport Grille with the integrated Mercedes-Benz
star, usually exclusive to the Sport model. New look 16” ‘Pristix’
alloy wheels will also be a distinguishing feature and the boot lid and
exhaust will boast chrome trim finishes.
On the inside the Executive SE really comes into its own with COMAND
fitted as standard. The multimedia system includes hard disk drive
navigation, Linguatronic voice control, a 6 GB music register and a
PCMCIA slot. All of which can be fully controlled through the Executive
SE’s upgraded multi-function steering wheel.
At £23,190.64 (Estate, £24,390.11) OTR the Executive SE is just
£574.47(ex VAT) more than the SE, yet offers the customer over £2,200
in added value.
| | Volkswagen has today confirmed pricing and
specification for the most powerful and fastest accelerating
derivatives of the Scirocco and Golf ever produced.
Developed by Volkswagen's special projects wing, Volkswagen Individual,
prices for Scirocco R start at £26,945 on-the-road and £28,930 for the
Golf R.
Fitted with a 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder engine and a six speed manual
gearbox as standard, the Scirocco R develops 265 PS and 258 lbs ft of
torque while the Golf R produces 270 PS and 258 lbs ft of torque. A
six-speed DSG gearbox is available as an option on both models from
£1,300.
For the first time on an ‘R' model, the Scirocco R channels power
though the front wheels and is fitted with the XDS electronic
cross-axle traction control system to ensure improved grip in all
conditions. The Golf R, available in both three- and five-door
bodystyles, uses a pre-charged hydraulic version of Volkswagen's
4MOTION four wheel drive system. This system can react quicker than
previous 4MOTION systems while also limiting torque to maximise
traction and minimise wheelspin.
The range-topping Scirocco accelerates from a standstill to 62 mph in
6.0 seconds, falling to 5.8 seconds when equipped with the DSG gearbox,
while achieving a combined figure of 34.9 mpg (35.3 for DSG) and 189
g/km of CO2 (187 for DSG).
The Golf R is the fastest accelerating Volkswagen ever produced, with a
0 to 62mph sprint taking just 5.7 seconds. As with the Scirocco, the
DSG gearbox shaves a further two tenths of a second from this time.
Despite this impressive performance, the Golf R returns 33.2 mpg on the
combined cycle (DSG 33.6 mpg) and CO2 emissions of 199 g/km (195g DSG).
Both the Scirocco R and Golf R models have a top speed of 155 mph. |
 | The most economical Vauxhall model ever will be
available to order from January 2010 when the new Corsa ecoFLEX hits
the UK market, boasting CO2 emissions of just 98g/km and a miserly
combined fuel consumption of 76.3mpg.
Even in five-door trim, the Corsa ecoFLEX achieves 99g/km and, like the
three-door, is equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) as
standard, which dramatically reduces the most harmful emissions. As a
result, Corsa ecoFLEX drivers will benefit from not only the lowest 13
per cent BIK diesel band, but full exemption from VED.
| | Any Nissan buyer concerned their new car might not be
delivered by the end of 2009 needn't worry - they won't have to pay the
Government's higher rate of VAT. That's the pledge made by
Britain's biggest car builder, which is promising to cover the price
increase of any new Nissan resulting from the Government's planned 1st
January VAT increase.
As the temporary VAT rate of 15% comes to an end, Value Added Tax is
expected to return to 17.5%. However, as this is calculated on the
manufacturer's recommended retail price at the time of delivery, most
car buyers who order this year but don't get the keys until 2010 stand
to lose out. To avoid this VAT trap, Nissan will pay the extra VAT* for
any new car customer placing an order before the end of 2009 and taking
delivery before 31st March 2010.
| | Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announces today
the forthcoming introduction of its all-new on-road Compact Crossover,
to be retailed first in Japan from February 2010 onwards.
Derived from the much-acclaimed 2007 Concept-cX show car, it is the
latest development of MMC's mid-size global platform (“Project Global”).
This most important product will further support Mitsubishi Motors’
strategic shift from being an SUV-focused nameplate to a manufacturer
of environment-friendly passenger cars & crossovers*, with a
presence in the “authentic off-roader” segment** – itself pre-empting
structural changes in market demand.
As such – and after i-MiEV – this on-road Compact Crossover will be the
Corporation's next game changer towards lower impact vehicles, in their
format and/or in the innovative MMC proprietary technologies they will
feature.
The European premiere is scheduled for the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. |
