 | From next year, the Volkswagen Scirocco will be available to order with an efficient new entry-level engine.
From 4 January 2010, it will be possible to order the two-door compact
coupé with the 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS engine, with prices starting at
£18,860 RRP on the road. The 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS unit develops
147 lbs ft of torque channelled via a six-speed manual gearbox, through
the front wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes 9.7 seconds
before reaching a top speed of 124 mph. Thanks in part to the
engine’s small capacity, the Scirocco returns a healthy combined
economy figure of 44.1 mpg and CO2 emissions of 146 g/km, making it the
cleanest petrol model in the range. The new entry-level model
benefits from a comprehensive list of standard equipment including a
six-CD autochanger with iPod preparation, rain and dusk sensors, a
multifunction computer, air conditioning and 17-inch ‘Donington’ alloy
wheels as well as a host of safety features including ABS, ESP
(Electronic Stabilisation Programme) and six airbags. Adaptive Chassis
Control (ACC) is also available on this model as a £765 option. Volkswagen
has also announced a new optional styling pack available on Scirocco GT
models for the New Year. The new ‘Lugano Black’ package comprises
10-spoke 19-inch ‘Lugano’ alloy wheels finished in gloss black with
additional Piano Black decorative inserts throughout the cabin, and
costs £950. | | | The popular Peugeot 207 Verve will be available with
two new engine options and in three new exciting exterior colours
starting at £12,330 from January 2010. The Peugeot 207 Verve,
currently available with a 1.4 litre 8v 75 bhp petrol and 1.4 litre HDi
70 diesel engines, will be joined by a new 1.4 VTi 95 bhp petrol and
1.6 HDi 90 diesel engine, in January 2010. To highlight the added
‘Verve’, three new exterior body colours are also introduced to the
range. Five colours are now available with the introduction of
Aluminium, Shark Grey and Moroccan Red to the already available,
Flamenco Red and Onyx Black. The popularity of the 207 Verve is due
to its comprehensive standard equipment, which includes: Power
steering, driver airbag, passenger airbag, side airbag, remote control
central locking with deadlocks, three rear three point seat belts, 2/3
– 1/3 split folding rear seat, adjustable front head restraints,
steering column adjustable for reach and rake, stereo radio / single CD
player, driver seat height adjustment, ABS, EBFD, EBA, electric air
inlet flap (HDi models only), body coloured door handles / body side
mouldings, chrome insert to gear knob, lion grey interior door handles,
white instrument dials, trip computer, electrically operated / heated
door mirrors, manual air-conditioning, 15” Monaco alloy wheels, front
fog lights, Verve badges and interior floor mats… For music lovers
the new 207 Verve is also fitted as standard with Peugeot Connect USB
with Bluetooth. This system enables a Bluetooth compatible mobile phone
to be paired with the car. Once paired, the phone can be operated via
the remote controls on the steering column. High-quality telephone
communications can, therefore, be carried out in complete safety using
both the car’s speakers and inbuilt microphone. The system also
includes a USB Box which consists of a connection box located in the
centre console with a USB connector and jack socket, all protected by a
hinged cover. Once connected, an MP3 player or an iPod can be operated
via the radio controls or controls under the steering wheel, with the
units screen information also shown on the car’s multi-function display. The
unit is also capable of “streaming” music via the Bluetooth function,
making it possible to play recorded music from the memory of a
Bluetooth phone or from a portable music player equipped with a
Bluetooth module To help maximise the fuel efficiency of the 207
Verve, the Euro 5 1.4 litre 8v 75 bhp model is also fitted with a Gear
Shift indicator (GSI). |
