Ford Fiesta and Focus take top spots in Wales in 2009

Ford dominated sales of new cars in Wales last year, according to the annual figures from the SMMT. Fiestas were bought by nearly 7,700 drivers and the Focus went to over 4,100 homes and businesses in Wales. The results in Wales helped Ford hold onto its top UK place for the 33rd year. Vauxhall’s Corsa and Astra were next, the Peugeot 207 was fifth while the VW Golf, Renault Clio, Ford Ka, Toyota Yaris and VW Polo completed the top ten sold in Wales in 2009. Welsh registrations totalled 76,545 in 12 months, less than 2pc down on 2008 and the smallest decline in the UK. |
