Bus and coach fares increased by almost 25% between 1997 and 2009, while the price of train tickets shot up by 13% in real terms, say figures from Transport Minister Sadiq Khan. However, Mr Khan had good news for motorists, revealing that the cost of running a car had fallen in the same period. He said the "real" cost of motoring, including buying the car, had dropped 14%. Between 1980 and 2009, the cost of running a car has dropped by 17%, Mr Khan added. In the same period bus and coach fares rose 54% and rail fares increased 50%. At the end of the Selectiviti term, customers are able to part-exchange the vehicle for a new Infiniti or pay the final ‘balloon’ payment to own it. A third option is to hand the car back to Infiniti Financial Services in lieu of the final payment, with nothing further to pay. |
