 | | | The new Mini Countryman will be priced between £16,000 and £20,810 when it goes on sale in September.
The
MINI Countryman range will be the fourth member of the MINI family
following Hatch, Convertible and Clubman and it will be available in
five models which are longer, wider and higher than their stablemates.
Two models in the new Countryman range will offer four-wheel drive, for the very first time in MINI’s 51 year history.
All
Countryman models will be built by Magna Steyr in Austria. Although it
is the first MINI model not to be built at MINI’s spiritual home in
Oxford, the brand’s worldwide success means that there is insufficient
capacity to make Countryman at present. It has been confirmed that the
forthcoming Coupé and Roadster models will be built in Oxford.
At
launch the Countryman range will include three petrol and two diesel
models, as well as two ALL4 all-wheel drive models – the Cooper D ALL4
and Cooper S ALL4. The petrol engines are the new 1.6 litre power
plants already announced for the Hatch, Convertible and Clubman models
due in March 2010. The diesel units are shared with the rest of the
MINI range. |
The “5 by Peugeot” concept car is another
indication of the changing face of Peugeot and provides an insight into
the Marque’s future ambitions in the large luxury vehicle segment.
To be
shown at Geneva, it is powered by Peugeot’s HYbrid4 technology, it ensures
both high levels of driving enjoyment and environmental protection -
200 bhp, four-wheel drive and CO2 emissions of 99 g/km or zero in

Product Appeal are the leading themes for Toyota’s presentation at the
Geneva motor show.
The occasion will mark the world-first
appearance of the showroom-ready Auris Hybrid Synergy Drive, a model
which marks a major milestone in Toyota’s programme to introduce its
full hybrid powertrain technology across its entire model range by the
early 2020s.
Built in Britain at Toyota’s Burnaston factory, Auris
HSD appears at Geneva ahead of going on sale across Europe in the
summer. It forms a key part of the new Auris 2010 model line-up,
offering advanced clean engine technology at the heart of the C-segment.
The Toyota FT-86 sports concept (above)
will also be making its first European appearance, a vision for a
driver-focused, highly aerodynamic rear-wheel drive machine that draws
on Toyota’s rich heritage of creating exciting sports cars. The FT-86
has been rendered as compact and lightweight as possible to maximise
its agility and performance potential. |
