Welsh haulier is saving by spending on new Volvos
publication date: Mar 2, 2010
With the addition of two new Volvo FH-460’s,
Denbighshire-based, Williams Haulage Ltd’s decision to purchase Volvo
trucks is already starting to pay off.
The 6x2 vehicles plated at 44 tonne are producing significantly higher fuel figures than any of their current mixed fleet.
“Over the course of the past few months, we have been running a series
of tests to determine the fuel efficiency of our latest additions,”
says Operation’s Director, Huw Williams. “Whilst it is still early
days, they are already showing an improvement of around 15% compared to
any of our other 20 plus vehicles.”
With projected savings of over £20,000 per vehicle, based over 5 years,
Huw explained, “As a business we are always looking to maximise
efficiency and make savings. "The whole life cost benefits of these
vehicles speak volumes.” Opting for the spacious Globetrotter XL cab, the new
vehicles were specified with the D13C Euro 5-compliant engine, to
deliver 460bhp via the I-Shift automated transmission system. | | | | | The vehicles were supplied by Customer Solution’s
Manager, Mark Lingard, of Thomas Hardie Commercials, Deeside, and were
part of a 3-year Repair & Maintenance contract.
Commenting on the deal Huw explained that, “We’ve always been happy
with the quality and back-up support from Hardie’s. They provide a
professional, reliable service for our vehicle requirements.” | | | | |
