New car sales in Wales went up 29.77pc in February to 2,040.
The increase has been put down to the scrappage incentive bringing
forward business before it is phased out this month, when the new
10-plate is introduced.
The arrival of the new plate is expected to help keep sales up this
month but the trade and manufacturers then anticipate a sharp decline
with year-end registrations down over 10pc compared to 2009.
A variety of manufacturer incentives, termed "swappage schemes" are
also helping keep showroom traffic moving and will play a big part in
the sales this year, helped by a spread of new models due out this year. | | | | Wales top ten cars in February were: |
