Nissan’s Sunderland Plant yesterday celebrated the production launch of the all-new Juke compact sports crossover.

The government is urging councils in England to cut unnecessary road signs, railings and advertising hoardings in a bid to make streets tidier and safer.
Communities Secretary Eric Pickles said the number of signs was damaging the character of towns and villages. Campaigners have said lots of signs are unsightly, unnecessary and can leave motorists confused.

Results from an IAM poll have found that most drivers regularly suffer some form of road rage, and nearly a third admit that anger with other road users makes their own driving worse.
Of the 1,400 respondents to the online poll, 70 per cent stated that they got angry with other road users and 28 per cent felt that getting heated behind the wheel affected their own driving competence.
The vast majority of car drivers, 88 per cent, told Government pollsters that they used their car at least twice a week with most of these saying they drove every day.
Motorway travel amongst car drivers is much less frequent, however, with less than one in five drivers saying they used these roads at least twice a week. Almost a quarter said they used motorways less than twice a year.
Japanese car makers are preparing to roll out their newest generation of diesel powered models as the Government ends green subsidies and the fuel saving advantages assume greater importance.
Diesel sales in some European countries are over 70pc and topped 50pc in the UK last month, but in Japan the most recent figures showed diesel registrations were 0.2pc of total sales.
