The 27-mile M6 Toll in the West Midlands has been a costly failure and the Government should not rely on them to solve transport problems, according to a report released by Campaign for Better Transport. Earlier this year Transport Secretary Philip Hammond signalled an interest in using tolls to pay for future road building schemes, most of which are expected to be halted after the October spending review. But the opponents said the M6 Toll was costing millions and not reducing congestion as initially expected, although more drivers are using it than 12 months ago.
Ian Davies, owner of award winning Cardiff hair salon Ocean, is dedicated to giving to charity and has recently signed up for a London to Paris bike ride in aid of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Ian will be cycling the 200km distance in just two days with some of the biggest names in British hairdressing, including industry icon John Frieda. The group will depart from Great Ormond Street Hospital on 3rd of October and will cycle the challenging route, finishing under the Eiffel Tower the very next day.
New car discounts have dropped by over 12% over the past 12 months, while most list prices have shot up. According to the What Car? Target Price (What Car?'s monthly mystery shop of thousands of new car deals), the average discount car buyers should be able to haggle off a new car this September is £1779, £248 less than September 2009 when the average discount was £2027.
With ‘60’ registrations hitting the forecourts this week research from BMW Financial Services has found that 38% would not research the vehicle’s future potential value before investing in a purchase, despite 74% of drivers saying the future value would play an important factor in their choice. The research showed that 44% of motorists would customise a brand new car to their own specification, with 48% of respondents revealing they would be prepared to pay for added extras if they thought would help to increase the car’s future value.

US analysts are predicting a 28 year low for new car sales. Industrywide deliveries, to be released today, may have reached an annualized rate of 11.6 million vehicles in August. Dealers failed to entice consumers concerned the economy is worsening and they may lose their jobs and other data show house sales were plunging while unemployment was also very high.
