A £107M link road running for three miles has been given the go-ahead to connect Port Talbot and the docks area to junction 38 of the M4 motorway at Margam.
Up to 600 jobs are expected to be created during the construction which will take 33 months.
UK car buyers can now take their place in motoring history by becoming the first in the country to secure an order for the world’s first affordable, mass-produced, 100% electric vehicle, after the Nissan LEAF order bank opened on 1 September.
Customers can sign up online via the www.nissan.co.uk/LEAF reservation website and put down a refundable £257 deposit. This is the first step in securing a place on the list to receive one of the first Japanese-built Nissan LEAFs, deliveries of which will start in March priced at £23,990, including £5,000 government incentive.
These motoring pioneers will then get an opportunity to test-drive their prospective purchase by the end of this year, at which point they will need to formally confirm their order. A dedicated call centre has also been set up to assist customers with questions.

Research from Auto Trader Mobile reveals that nearly one fifth (19.9%) have made life changing decisions while in the bath or shower, whilst 1 in 5 of us (20%) feel most inspired in the mornings. The poll looked at when we’re likely to make big life decisions and what prompts us to do so. From buying the car you’ve always wanted to filing for divorce or taking off around the world, nearly a third (31%) of us are most likely to make that big decision when plagued by sheer boredom.

Callcontrol claims to be the first combined hardware and software solution to tackle the problem of varied mobile phone use whilst driving. As soon as the vehicle is in motion, the software can lock out some or all of the phone’s capabilities, including: incoming and outgoing calls; texting; web browsing; and email.
Suzuki will build a new factory in India after national car sales jumped over 30 percent this year.
The plant in Manesar, near New Delhi, will have capacity to produce 250,000 cars from mid-2013. The carmaker is already constructing a plant of a similar size nearby and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.’s four existing plants near New Delhi have a total production capacity of more than 1 million vehicles a year.
Competitors have added models in India and built new plants to challenge Maruti in an auto market that may double by 2015, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
