Kia has released the first photos of the next generation Picanto city car.

Completely redesigned and re-engineered, the new car has grown in overall length and wheelbase Kia's Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, said, "In profile, new Picanto features significant sculpting and a very prominent rising character line.  The result is a layering of light and shadow and this breaks up the height, giving the car a more sure-footed stance."
New Picanto appears in March and three door follows

While the current Picanto is available only as a five-door hatchback, the next generation version will be offered as a five-door globally but a sportier three-door body style will also be made available in the UK and European markets.
The new Picanto will feature four all-new powertrains in 1.0- and 1.2-litre displacements, all boasting class leading CO2 emissions levels. In addition to the standard petrol engines, LPG, bi-fuel and flex-fuel variations will be available depending on local market requirements.
The next generation Picanto will receive its official unveiling at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday March 1 but its arrival in the UK market is yet to be decided.
Subaru take the strain of VAT riseUnlike most car companies, Subaru UK will not be passing on January's Value Added Tax increase to the majority of its customers.

The All-Wheel-Drive Japanese manufacturer will absorb the 2.5 per cent rise in sales duty in most cases.
This means that prices for 80 per cent of the Subaru range will remain unchanged for 2011. For example, the Forester SUV range will still start at £21,295 for the entry level 2.0X and rise to £28,995 for 2.0D XS NavPlus.

The Legacy Tourer range will cost from £24,795 (2.0D S) to £29,295 (2.5i SE Navplus Lineartronic).  Crossover Outback models will continue to be priced at £26,795 for 2.0D S, rising to £35,795 for the top-of-the-range 3.6R.
Elsewhere, the recently launched 2011MY STI WRX (above) stays at £32,995 (for both the four and five-door) and the last remaining few Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 models are still priced at £49,995.
