MG is planning to create a number of dealers throughout Wales to sell its forthcoming hatchback car.

It currently has 39 dealers in the UK but is seeking a further 25, said David Martin, the MG Motor UK Franchise and Dealer Development Manager.

"We do already have a small dealer network of course - 39 dealers, including MG Cardiff  - and we are already talking with around 25 potential dealers, including one in mid-Wales."

He added, " We are also looking to appoint MG dealers in the Swansea area and in North Wales."

MG is about to roll out its new MG6 sports fastback.

Earlier this week, Vauxhall confirmed it would be assisting MG build its UK network but it will not sell the models alongside Vauxhall cars in dealer showrooms.

Vauxhall parent GM is a long standing partner of MG's parent SAIC, in China, and it stepped in to help the brand build a UK presence and where it already plans a new assembly facility.
