Marking 35 years production since the series launched,
the Golf GTI Edition 35 has a 1,984 cc four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged
engine which produces 235 PS, 25 more than the standard GTI, at 5,500 rpm and 221 lbs ft of torque at 2,200 rpm.
Like the standard GTI,
the Edition 35 is front engined and front-wheel drive. Standstill to 62
mph takes 6.6 seconds and top speed is 153 mph. The model still returns a
very respectable 34.9 mpg on the combined economy cycle and emits
189 g/km of CO2. | | Bespoke exterior
styling changes include a more sporty bodykit incorporating new side skirts and
a revised front bumper which sits below bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime
running lights. Unique lightweight 18-inch ‘Watkins Glen' alloy wheels,
finished in ‘Dark Steel' or - at no additional cost - silver, distinguish this
model from the standard GTI, along with an Edition 35 badge on the front wing,
gloss black door mirror casings, rear windows with 90 per cent tinted glass and
rear tinted LED lights.
Subtle ‘35' signatures
are carried through to the interior, featuring on the head restraints of the
heated Vienna leather front sports seats as well as the door sills and floor
mats, along with a red stripe on the seatbelts and the now famous GTI ‘golf ball'
gearknob which is available on both manual and DSG transmissions.
Prices for the GTI
Edition 35 start at £27,525 for the manual three-door model.
There is a £1,295 premium for the DSG gearbox and £585 for five doors.
Although the new car
is a special edition model, there is not a specific restriction on the number
available.
| | | Having created one of
the fastest growing sectors in the UK car market, Nissan's Qashqai is ready to
move even further ahead of the competition.
The next evolution for
the top selling crossover comes in the form of an all-new diesel engine that
lets drivers enjoy the best of both worlds - greatly reduced emissions with
improved in-gear performance. With fuel prices
pressing ever higher and the motorist not only looking to save on running costs
but also reduce their environmental impact, Qashqai's new 1.6-litre dCi engine
arrives at the perfect moment. | | Replacing the 2.0dCi manual, the new
four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine delivers dramatically enhanced economy and
emissions in the Qashqai and Qashqai+2.
Like every Nissan
producing less than 130g/km, the 1.6 dCi wears Nissan's Pure Drive badge. The
first Qashqai models to benefit from the new engine are available to order now
for delivery in October, and offer CO2 emissions of only 129g/km.
Early next year Nissan will add its latest Stop/Start system, automatically
turning off the engine when stationary to bring the Qashqai's emissions down to
an even more impressive 119g/km.
The savings for
Qashqai drivers will be immediately felt. A 31 per cent improvement in fuel
economy results in 62.8mpg (+14.9mpg) on the combined cycle while the first
year's VED is free of charge. Company car drivers will also enjoy significant
savings with a benefit in kind tax banding of just 13 per cent, for stop start
versions, further broadening the appeal of Qashqai to the important fleet
sector. What's more, the 1.6 dCi without stop and start costs £250 less to buy
than the equivalent 2.0 dCi. | | | September heralds the
arrival of the ‘61' registration plate and MINI is marking a decade of
success with a range of attractive value for money offers to tempt
new car buyers.
Its 10 years that has
been a triumph for MINI and UK plc, with the first Hatch models launched in
summer 2001, MINI has produced more than two million cars, is currently selling
in almost 100 countries and employs round 5,000 people in the UK. | | Key to the brand's
appeal continues to be the legendary ‘go-kart' handling and iconic design
heritage. But every new MINI also offers the customer MINIMALISM technology -
which means the car is kinder to the environment - as well as boasting low
whole-life running costs.
In fact, MINI is
ranked within the top five motoring manufacturers for its low CO2
emissions throughout its whole range*. Drivers don't have to compromise on
performance when considering the environment with the frugal new Cooper SD
engine offering CO2 emissions as low as 114g/km, a whopping 65.7 mpg
on the combined cycle and a nimble top speed of 134mph.
Buyers in and around
the nation's capital should get behind the wheel of the MINI One D or MINI
Cooper D, as both are exempt from the city's Congestion Charge.
Highlighting just how
affordable buying a new MINI is, the MINI First with a ‘61' registration is available
at low-rate finance for just £169 a month with a customer deposit of only
£1,499.
| | | The launch of the 2012
Honda Insight at Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) 2011 in September reaffirms Honda's
commitment to reducing CO2 emissions.
The 2012 Insight is
now even more environmentally friendly producing just 96 g/km of CO2.
Fuel economy and emissions have been improved by means of enhanced
aerodynamics and powertrain efficiency. Reduced engine friction ,
Continuous Variable Transmission and better air conditioning, benefiting
from a new cold storage system, all contribute to lower fuel consumption. | | The Insight also
receives a fresh exterior design including a new front grille. The slimmed tail
spolier allows for a wider rear glass area, and combining this with a modified
tail gate garnish and a reduction in the size of the wiper motor unit results
in overall increased rear visibility. Adjustments have been
made to the engine and suspension for an overall improvement to ride comfort
and stability. The features within the interior have also been enhanced for a
superior quality. | | Bentley is working with British design company Linley for the
creation of a limited edition of 10 Continental Flying Spurs.
The limited edition
CFS models will be sold in China, reflecting continuing demand by Bentley's biggest
four-door market. They will incorporate signature Linley elements
designed to appeal to customers who value pedigree and lineage, handcrafted
quality and peerless design. | | Specially selected
Linley veneers in Santos rosewood are being applied to the fascia, consol,
waistrail and roof console and integrated within the cars for the first time.
The veneers cover the entire wood surfaces of the model, where Bentley chestnut
or walnut would normally be used. |
