Revealed in N America at this week's Detroit show as
the midsize Ford Fusion, this all-new car signals the next-generation
Ford Mondeo for world markets.
| | While it goes on sale in N America this year, the new Mondeo version pictured is due in Europe in the first quarter of 2013.
As a result the detail below relates to Fusion and more on the Mondeo
will come closer to launch but the equipment will be broadly as
described for European models. | | With seven must-have technologies, including a Lane
Keeping System, adaptive cruise control, active park assist and MyFord
Touch, the all-new Ford Fusion shows how Ford is refining its equipment. In America, customers can choose from Fusion's
widest-ever portfolio of fuel-efficient powertrain options including
EcoBoost, hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines; automatic and manual
transmission offerings and auto start-stop technology.
| US models will have a choice of Bridgend-built 1.6
Ecoboost engines with stop & start technology as well as a 2.0
Atkinson-cycle engine and performance versions get four wheel drive. The
plug-in range extending Fusion uses high performance batteries with a
longer range than rivals when running on electric power alone. | |
