A campaign to stop people smoking in cars when children are travelling has been launched by the Welsh government.
Fresh Start aims to protect youngsters from the effects of second-hand smoke in a confined space. An outright ban will be considered depending on the success of the three-year campaign.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. intends to stop building cars at its money-losing Netherlands Car plant this year and 1,500 assembly workers will lose their jobs.
The move, which has been expected, is part of MMC's plan to shift more production to emerging markets and means the Colt and Outlander will be sourced from other plants.

Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile Co. has made a 3 billion-kronor (€340 million) bid for bankrupt Saab Automobile AB, Reuters reports, citing an anonymous source.
The news service says Saab's court-appointed administrators are cool to the offer because they prefer the higher bids they have received to sell Saab's assets piecemeal, which would raise more money to repay creditors.

Record numbers of young people are embarking on careers in the UK automotive industry, with more than 14,000 recruited into apprenticeships in 2011 and almost two thirds of UK automotive companies recruiting new talent from schools and colleges to grow the sector's skills base.   
The figures, released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) to mark the launch of ‘National Apprenticeship Week', demonstrate industry's commitment to attracting young people to careers within industry, boosting its 737,000 highly-skilled workforce.

Young business students at an Ellesmere Port college are to have their entrepreneurial skills tested in an enterprise challenge thrown down by a Chester-based auto company.
As part of their course, the business diploma students at West Cheshire College are taking part  in the "Outstanding Business Student Award" organised by ACF Car
to devise a workable plan for launching a new business in the Chester area and they will describe how they would research, set-up and profitably manage a car valeting firm based in the city.

Insolvencies in the motor sector more than doubled in the final quarter of 2011, according to figures released by the Insolvency Service.
The figures show that administrations have increased 120 per cent from Q3 to Q4 2011. Graham Bushby, head of motor at Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery LLP, said the figures reflected the need for further consolidation in the sector.


Four forward-looking concepts that will take centre stage on the Nissan stand at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.
They will join a full complement of innovative models that demonstrate the strength and depth of Nissan's diverse range and include the world premiere of INVITATION, a design set to inspire a new production model due in Europe during 2013.
